Do you want to start your own letterpress stationery business? Join me in our Los Angeles studio for a crash course on everything you need to know.

In an intimate group setting (maximum of 6 people), we’ll spend a full weekend exploring everything I’ve learned in my 6 years of running a stationery business.

We’ll cover:

• the letterpress printing process. Learning how to operate and successfully print on and troubleshoot with a Vandercook press will be a large portion of this class. There will also be demonstrations on a Kluge, and introductions to a Heidelberg.

• how to create plate-ready files, including digitizing calligraphy

• vendors, paper types, ink types, preferred tools

• mixing Pantones

• social media strategy

• understanding the creative process

• general information on the basics of client coordination, workflows, and business strategy

Lunch will be provided every day. This class is for serious aspiring printers, with little knowledge of the letterpress process. If you are a graphic designer, calligrapher, or artist who has dreamed of running your own shop, but don’t know where to begin- this class is for you.

This class will be held in person. If you are not local to LA, consider flying in for the weekend. This class does not cover flight or accommodation costs of any kind.

For serious printers only, we are also offering an additional day (Monday following the weekend) as an add-on day for one-on-one training, to focus solely on printing from start to finish on either a Vandercook or Windmill. This is limited to a maximum of 2 people, so please let us know if you’d like to add this intensive press training for $750.
